Be Part of the Rainbow Quays Community
In our riverside surroundings it’s often easy to forget that we are living in a major city and are also part of a local
community. To help make things better for all of us, the Residents Association has come up with some useful tips on
living at Rainbow Quay.
HOME SECURITY
- Keep trouble out – never allow people access via the phone entry system unless you are sure they have a genuine reason to visit.
- When coming and going from the flats make sure to shut all the main doors behind you. The garden gates should stay padlocked and doors to the garage remain closed.
CARS AND BIKES
- To enhance garage security entry and exit through the main electronic doors is by use of an individually coded electronic fob. For information contact the managing agent on 0845 002 4444.
- It is essential that drivers and cyclists take time to check that the garage door closes fully before they move off. It only takes 20 seconds but that is enough time for thieves to gain access.
- Bicycle stands have been fitted in the garages. Cyclists are not permitted to store bicycles in the common stairway/hall. A key fob may be obtained from the managing agents on payment of £30 plus a returnable deposit of £50.
- CCTV cameras monitoring the main gates have been fitted. For information on how to view the pictures in real time over the internet, contact the managing agent.
SUSPICIOUS MINDS
- If you feel confident then feel free to challenge anyone acting suspiciously in the common areas. A simple “can I help you!” can do the trick. You don’t have to do this face to face. If they are in the garden then lean out of the window. A camera can also be very useful and a picture will provide good evidence.
POLICING MATTERS
- If you are suspicious then report it to the police (see contacts)
- Please use the online forum to report any breaches of security. Feedback of this sort enables us to build up a picture of the weaknesses in our general security and help us to take steps to stop the problems escalating.
- Southwark Council have set up an anti-social behaviour unit. The contact is Joan Leary on 020 72327001.
- There is also a national advice service called ‘Together’ on 0870 2202000.
GENERAL CONDITIONS OF TENANCY
- You are obliged to pay the service charge.
- The garage may only be used for vehicles with a current road licence.
- Pets may only be kept with the managing agent’s permission. Permission will be withdrawn if any pets are found to be causing a nuisance by fouling the garden or pavements, or making an unreasonable noise.
- Internal decoration should be done at least once every seven years.
- Emptying or filling petrol is not permitted in the garage because of the fire risk.
- Satellite dishes may not be fixed to the building. The internal system has been upgraded to meet all the main analogue and digital needs.
- Washing may not be hung out on balconies or terraces.
- You may not carry on a business from your apartment.
- A full list of conditions may be found in the first schedule of your lease.
REFUSE – RECYCLE WHEREVER POSSIBLE
- Put all your plastic and food waste refuse into polythene bags.
- Place the bags in the bins provided. The bin men will leave any that aren’t and this will attract vermin.
- Wrap up broken glass well before putting it into the bag otherwise someone could get hurt.
- Large items which are recyclable (fridges, furniture, cardboard boxes etc.) go in the recycling areas in the garages.
- If you have lost the key to the bin stores, do not leave rubbish on the pavement. Phone the managing agent.
- The nearest recycling bins are at 96 Rope Street and 101 Rope Street, 2 Rainbow Quay and 7 Rainbow Quay.
